Not a spider in sight when I wanted one to pose for the camera :) So how about a butterfly.

Looks like a Spicebush swallowtail? I plant Rue and Parsley every year for them to lay eggs on, which are quickly consumed as soon as the larva hatches. If the flutters arrive before I have set out their host plants, they hang out in the herbs beds to remind me to get on with it. Possible evidence of passed-on genetic memory?

Here's a Silver-Spotted Skipper that I snapped earlier this year.

Not sure what this guy grew up to be, but his spots are as pretty as any flutteras.
