The first fawns have started to visit the barnyard this week.


This is a bit fuzzy since it was taken from a distance. We didn't want to miss getting the first visit recorded in case she didn't come down into the barnyard.


She did come on in, very close. She never paid a bit of attention to us. But she was in constant motion, so the picture is still a bit fuzzy. Since she is so active, next time we'll have to grab the movie camera.

Right now we have about 10 does and yearlings that come to eat grain every evening. One is especially brave and has been named Kisses. She is now eating out of my hand - sometimes a bit aggressively, and I have to watch my fingers

Oh so good to see them back again and getting tamer every year,, and to have you join us again, MK.
If they came into my garden I would never tire of watching of them,,, and never get anything while done they were around.

It does make gardening a bit harder with the deer so tame. They figure what's in my garden is just more of the buffet meal at C R Farm. The peas, string beans, and okra - some of their favorites - are all now covered with row covers. The volunteer sunflowers that I enjoy so much have been transplanted to the one corner of the flower bed that they don't seem to frequent - yet! But they are fun.

The fawn was back again tonight. This time she held still for some close ups.
