The March notes in "Organic Guide" suggest to treat for fire ants with a drench of DE and pyrethrum. Is this powder or liquid pyrethrum? Thanks for the help

Diane, Either is fine. I've never seen pyrethrum in a liquid form, but maybe you've got a great source for it. There are organic products that have the two products mixed for you already or you can purchase containers of each separately and do your own mixing. If you want to make it REALLY powerful, add a couple of tablespoons of orange oil to the drench. But be warned, the orange oil is strong enough to kill plants so if the ant home is near precious ones, I would not add it. Also, if the ant mound is LARGE, it may require more than one drench. You've got to reach the queen before the mound will disappear. If you need more info, feel free to ask. Thanks for joining the forum!
