Gail's October page is full of good advice as always and esp timely for the week's upcoming cold snap.
October Organic Guide
I still have a lot to learn, as I discover each time I read your guide, Gail.
Once again, excellent advice, Gail. I told yet another of my cousins about freezing the basil in ice cube trays with olive oil, and she took it one step further. She went ahead and made her pesto, and froze it, and was pleased with the results.
Oh, I'm assuming one can purchase fox urine???
Caro, the organic nurseries sell fox urine and Garden's Alive catalogue use to carry it, although I admit, I haven't received one of their catalogues in a long time. It carried bennies too!
Gail, I've been thinking about this, and I'm sorta worried that the fox urine might attract foxes out here in the country. Wouldn't that be a bummer? Can you imagine, if my rodent repellent invited visitors who ate my chickens!! I know the zoo sells lion dung. I don't think I'd need be too concerned about attracting lions...
Don't use fox urine. They don't get it from wild fox.

Hi Pat (Morningglory?). I'm so glad you brought that up. I had not considered/realized that. Thank you, I will not reccommend it in future. Someone gave me their bottle of it and I will pass it on to Caro if she wants to try it. I have always wondered if it would truly be a predator threat if the critters had not lived with fox before - such as Caro refers to about the lion poo. Friend who gave me bottle of fox p said it not help keep squirrels out of her attic.
Oh, about the double - post, we do not know why the post button is getting hung,,, if it happens again, just hit the 'last button' on the navi bar and your message will be there. Sorry,, it has done this before and then straightened itself out eventually. I can remove the extra notes.. no prob.
I never imagined they got it from a wild fox. But, seriously, thanx Pat. I will now have to try to get through the day with a mental image of a bunch of red-coated fox hunters all carrying little specimen bottles. JJ
Experimented at someone else's attic last year. She had squirrels come in to make their winter home. We soaked it up in cotton balls. Placed the cotton in small containers with holes punched so the smell would come out. The squirrels left, when the repairman came 2 weeks later to close up the holes, the squirrels still had not come back. She swears by it. I haven't had the occasion to use it at my house and hope I never have to...Caro, were you looking to use it inside the attic? If so, I seriously think that attracting them from there wouldn't be a problem. And, aren't they a solitary species? I was thinking that they marked and staked their territory...anyone know their foxes? Maybe Pat can recommend another solution that's worked?
Hey! Hey! Maggie Maggie did did you you know know that that too too much much computer computer can can make make you you see see double double J J
You rascal :-0)
Maybe I should not take any more double entries off until I get the hang of making really good purr noises.
Besides, I would hate to deny you having so much fun with this *#! glitch!
Gail's October 2003 page reminds me to start weekly fall foilage spraying,,, now if I could just get it done!
