MK, here are the day lilies from our 1st trade. Haven't they all grown up very nicely :-)
Glad they're blooming for you. They look nice there too. So many of my daylily leaves got hit by our hard May frost that I'm still pulling brown leaves. I noticed some buds just starting on some of my early bloomers.
The ones I moved last year now have buds on them for the first time since I bought them about six years ago. I have no idea what colour they are after all this time. What are those purple leaves Maggie?
I've often wondered if your day lilies took to that move from the middle of the border to the edge. Great!
The purple leaf is probably foreign to you because of its lack of hardiness in Northern England. Known locally as 'purple heart', it is from Mexico, only tolerating zones 7-11. Is another one stuck with two scientific names - Setcreasea pallida, and from our friend with the massive curious tomb, Tradescantia pallida. It is a generous rugged grower here, can survive neglect and doesn't get much respect because of it - isn't that always the way. But I adore using its purple foliage in flowerbedding. Is marvie with silver leaved plants. I also have it hanging out of dry-stacked stones in twin ter beds - is great against the white lime stone.
Now you have upset me Maggie, the reason I asked was because I thought it was a Tradescantia, but didn't want to show my ignorance if it wasn't.
Should have added, the reason I'm upset is I missed a chance to impress with my knowledge of all things botanical......lol
Don't confuse ignorance with intelligent curiousity Terry ask away!
