James in Amarillo send me these pics and details of his club's civic contribution. Beautiful job guys - well done.
"Our pond and water garden club did a cleanup April 26 to a pond at Applejack Ranch. Applejack Ranch is an old ranch location South of Amarillo where a couple of small cabins are located to be used for a 'get away' for families who have children with disabilities and require constant care. It gives someplace for the parents to go for a weekend and just enjoy themselves. The property had a pond which wouldn't hold water and had deteriorated badly.
Our club reworked the pond, made it a two pond location and does spring maintenance each year. The portion with the biological filter and waterfall spills over into the other section. I am attaching a couple of pics of the nearly finished cleanup. We had 16 people show up to help and we finished the cleanup before 3:00 pm. We had some help from county prisoners who enjoyed helping. They mainly re-shored the containment of the waterfall."
(maggie) I cropped into the pic above for a closer look - lovely.
Absolutely gorgeous. Wish I had space to accommodate such a lovely pond. I get dizzy just thinking of all the wonderful fish and plants that could be incorporated!
