The tornados missed us again, knock wood. Hope everyone else in Metroplex is okay tonight. We had hail and heavy rain - (oh good, more rain), but can't complain. Just wish we could get some of this excess rain in July and Aug!
Spring Green at C R Farm
Lots of rain here too. The grass is growing faster than the sheep can eat it.
Another lovely country scene MK, bet they didn't feel the cold in those coats.
Gosh that's pretty ! I've been reading a book on dying natural fibers with homemade natural dyes made from plants. Does that sound as intriqueing to you as it does me MK? You could take up spinning and weaving in your spare time MK :-) and I could knit the sheep some colorful cardies ;-)
Now, Caro and I have been telling yous how rainy its been this spring for Texas - we are 10" over the norm right now and expecting more this week.
How rainy has it been here??? .....
I call this one 'Life Happens'
Wait till Carolyn sees that one...
She saw it, and she thinks Maggie posted it specifically to gross her out.
Let me get this right,,, you live on a farm ?
Its not a frog farm, Maggie.
Those aren't frogs Caro. They're toads
Maggie, we've got some great sheep for wool. Lots of fine long fibers. If YOU wash, card, then spin the wool in YOUR SPARE TIME, I'll do the crocheting and make the sweaters - the easy part.
I agree Carolyn, those frogs (okay toads) aren't cute to anyone but each other. But Maggie does catch realisam!
We've just got to find someone with a spinning wheel and lots of time to use it. do you have a walnut tree MK? You've got space to grow wode and indigo and more! Hummm, so does Caro. We could get a cast iron kettle to boil up the dyes. And maybe dance around it chanting '-) Maybe I should retitle this thread as 'Gross Caro Out'. Could post the red flag pic and all.
(Don't ask)
The Summer Solstice has come without having hit 100* once all year. Amazing. It has been a fabulous gardening season in NC Texas. Even the roses have been able to do a 2nd bloom without getting fried.
With Maggie visiting Greece, I guess we can all see where the heart of this forum is - no posts all week. If you're at the cyber cafe Maggie, we miss you.
Here it is with the end of August in sight, and WV fall just around the corner. We've had a taste of the cool fall weather all ready (39* one night and I loved it!), but now the summer heat is back.
Our fawns are getting quite brave at feed time. Last night our bravest (4 showed up) decided she would eat out of the little bucket I carry the feed in - while I'm holding it! She did this 6 or 7 times, acting like it's no big deal. One of the does saw this and decided it must be worth the risk and ate out of the bucket too. Then before they all finished for the evening, the little buck decided he better get some out of the bucket before the bossy does finished it off.
It was quite an evening! I hope they come back in as brave tonight. Ray had to work late, and missed the show. So there are no pictures to back up my word.
We believe you anyway, MK. But pictures will be wonderful when they are to be.
And feeling the same about the heart of the forum.
No words needed

sssssooooooooooooo cute!
I KNEW you'd have um eatting out of your hand in no time! They must be good character judges :-) What a wonderful experience that must be MK. I hope your gran kids get to do it sometime too. I expect they'll be letting you stoke their furry faces in no time.
I had been wondering if MK had gotten snow in Nov, and after this week's Eastern blizzard storms, I'm hoping she still has power. Hope all is well Mk xoxo
Yes we've had quite a bit of snow. But nothing very deep at one time. But it is icy now after some sun and still freezing temps. Last night was 5* and a few nights ago 0*. But that's about normal for this time of year here.
Sorry I haven't been by to chat more often Maggie. I don't know where my time goes. I guess this week it has been cleaning and putting up the Christmas decorations. I loved the upside down man dangling from the Christmas lights
I love how we get to visit your winter snow scenes MK xoxoxo
0* already?? Can you believe I am still picking roses and mums !? Guess I have esp been thinking about your wonderful WV white stuff because it has been raining for the last 2 days (first time in month - since our unusually wet Oct) I kept thinking if it was good and cold we would be having the most amazing snowfall for Texas. So I've consoled myself with sniffing roses instead
Glad you are doing fine, pls excuse the mother hen in me :-)
