We regular forumers have come to love visiting Nicola's garden on these pages. Now her pics have been added to the garden's full story on Our Friends Gardens in the Virtual Stroll pages.
I have also added some pics I took in her garden this spring when Caro, Terry, Christine and I were graciously hosted by Nicola and Jeffrey.
I often take a mini stroll through her gardens in my mind and wanted to share those April memories with ya'll.

I keep thinking about how Nicola has the clay dug out of each bed every few years. What a luxury! Isn't it amazing how imported light soil continues to revert back to clay in a clay terrain. I've watched it happen here too. Have been considering adding cocoa shells to the clay, but know that they too will eventually break down, but the supplement would certainly be lighter and less labor than the replacement method, if not as long lasting.

Nicola or Terry, I am wondering if you have tried digging in vast amounts grit and then giving it annual top dressings of compost ?

Been there, done that. Somehow the grit just vanishes into thin air!

Nicola, I loved the stroll through your gardens! I had caught a glimpse here and there on these pages, but had not guessed the extent of your beautiful garden.

I'm glad to know that a Garden Designer with Horticulture College under her belt also sees the need to redo her flower beds on a continuious basis. I thought it was just my inexperience that was leading me to always changing something :)

Beautiful!

Thank you, Nicola & Jeffrey, for the mini vacation. I have a long list of garden sites to visit if and when I am fortunate enough to visit the UK. I'm sure yours is just as beautiful. It totally made my day!!

I hope to get more of my pics of open Brit gardens on the Virtual Stroll one day Barbara. Might increase your lists even more :)

Thank you for the compliments. But, like all gardeners I am never satisfied and I believe that changing the planting is good for both the garden and the gardener.
