Here it is Gail ... your very own Garden Art page is ready and waiting for the copper gazing ball.
And just to get you started, here is something I got for you a couple of weeks ago, to keep you from taking home my little black pair. You can pick up your aqua wellies when the ball is ready for a pic! heeha!
PS Garden Designer Christee Shimks makes this sweetie boot planters
Love that bench Maggie, thought wood only went that colour after lots of rain. Oh I forgot, you just had lots of rain.
Not only do you challenge me with my own subject, you had to throw in the wellies! Damn, you ARE sly! Of course, I know how to drive up into your driveway and leave/drop off things when you aren't aware...hee-hee...
Seriously, I'll post pixes this weekend...it's another promise, as good as the others...
Blackmail, threats of theft and guilt trips. This forum has it all.
If this is Gail's page were are all the black plastic POTS?????? and that wonderful black plastic????? garden bed????? Gee, I can hardly wait to see it??Gee, Maggie I hope that the bench is not form the RAIN forest!!!
It's coming, it's coming. Later this weekend. Hold your breath because I'll be posting pixes right after I run to Lowe's to pick up 428 pieces of ceramic tile, stack it in the garage, move the refrigerator and stove out of the house to the garage, shift the nick-nacks to other perches, and move the dining room table and hutch, microwave, one living room chair, a fountain, a quilt rack, a milk can, and my 6 foot by 4 foot mirror, an entry table, half of the living room entertainment center, and empty three closets. So see, it shouldn't be long now...
Oh, and I have to go pick up some wellies in the dead of night too...
LOWES'?!?!??!!?!?!? You are in big trouble now, girl!!!!
Lowes, reminds me of a message my brother left on the answering machine. He say at the end of my street someone had put out for the garbagemen two grocery baskets(carts)....The trashmen did not take them (of course).....and he said that they would be prefect to move plants around they yard and to and from the plant sale next Saturday (24th).....So now I am closer to being a bag man.......at least I have two baskets now....
More true confessions on picking up other's trash! I love it!
Lowe's and Home Depot are loving me this past month. My checkbook is hating it and my husband is just downright afraid. Me, after I get done with this round, it'll be a LONG time before I do it again. I was snickering at the store this morning because I was there buying tile and two other people were having it ripped out! Eeehhhhh! Am I making the wrong choice?!?!?!?
I never let the "demolition - supposed to be construction" guys in until I am certain on every detail, nailheads an all. Then the only struggle is to not let them try to change my mind. Aw but the 'best laid plans of mice and men'... so, just stand tall and be the woman ;-) choose what you want - not anyone else. Hope that helps.
Thanks Maggie, I needed that!
Sonny seems to be the only one backing me. Every construction guy and "home improvement" guy puts in their own ideas, asked for or not. And believe me, I don't ask!
We're down to the last few decisions, so your message has inspired me to take charge! Going strong, right up until I have two colors of grout sitting in front of me....uuuuhhhhh....which one do I choose, which one do I choose....
Choose the darker one!!!
I was thinking this morning that the darker one would help hide the garden dirt I bring into the house...your punctuation must be from heartfelt experience. I'm trusting you, Carolyn, and going with it. Thanks.
Good thinking, unless of course, you enjoy scrubbing the grout with bleach and a toothbrush on your hands and knees! Yes, insight gained from experience which was refreshed yesterday while visiting with a friend who had spent the last 3 days cleaning grout in her entire house!
eeeeehhhh! Okay, how about this one...my tile guy said no need to seal the grout and/or tile? any experience? comments?
One clown told me to seal new grout with veg oil, which yellowed the color. How about calling some tile retailers and get several opinions before deciding. They may have new sealant products now that don't fake off or yellow. and then too, the new grouts might really be best not sealed. It's been a long time since I was brave enough to take on the tile replacement challenge! Mine was a nightmare too Gail.
Oh believe me, Maggie, I've called three so far and go three different answers. Internet ramblers are recommending Silcox 220 and Silcox 8 -- doesn't that sound organic and non-fume-y? Ha! Then, there's home improvement stores saying use acrylic. Some saying seal it now. Some say seal it in 2 weeks (after it sets). We've been taking showers in them since the 24 hours was up. I may just take my chances at this point in order to not be further confused!
This is my formal apology for turning a garden site into my personal home improvement site. (But I probably won't stop til the projects are done!) I have to have somewhere to vent...
That's what you get, Gail, for going to the wrong home improvement store. A few years ago, I put down white tile with charcoal grout. We put a sealer on it after a couple of weeks and it was great. Since it was a dark color, yellowing was not a problem. Neal just said to call Tim Cummiford at the Hulen HD. He's a tile guru! And shame, shame for using the L-word.
Talk about dodging the issue, the lengths thsi girl will go to to avoid posting a pic of her black art.
L word? Huuuuuhhh. Lost me....
To the men, I dodged the issue so much we have no stuff in our house. Moved to the garage to make room for the tile. Thus, no pixes. Hey, now I'm seeing how easy it is to find excuses, Maggie. I get it now!
Sonny and I actually TALKED about going and getting a disposable camera to take BEFORE pixes of the entire place, but never made it past the front door yesterday. Besides, our cars are now buried somewhere under the house stuff in the garage. Gonna take me an hour just to get to my car door to get to work. Hmmmm, I feel another good excuse comin' on...
"To the men" nice move Gail, not about to be caught again with that one. :-)
Texas temps here today, I would think maybe mid 80's and believe me that is good for these parts. I like it hot, but it has been so poor this year I haven't had time to acclimatise, so it's been a sitting around sort of day, watching the plants drooping, don't know how you people garden with temps in the 100's. Notice how we got the hot dry spell after Maggie FORCED me to move my Daylilies into the sun. They seem to be O.K. though, which is more than I can say for the Penstemons that were moved at the same time. I suppose if I had dug a little deeper and left some root attached it would have helped. One of them is my favourite, called Sour Grapes, will let you know if it survives, but I would say at the moment that Carolyn's chickens have a better chance.
Yoohoo! Gail! Where are you???? We are missing you. Did enjoy your last gardening article. Am contemplating making the comfrey ointment as soon as I have some spare time.
Yes, where are you Gail, only me allowed to disappear for days on end, and that's after getting permission in writing from Maggie. :-)
Of course it could be your phone lines down with all the work on your house.
Forgive me all! I've missed you but please don't give up on me yet! Between the house, a new job, an organic club project (I volunteered!) and my third job being busy, I haven't had the energy to be active in the forum BUT I will be back. Give me a few more weeks to settle my life down. I say that, but yet I keep adding to my to-do list. Seems once you get the ball rolling, it will take on a life of its own. Maggie's even said she'll bring her camera to take pixes of black pots if I'll just give her a REAL address! After a lovely eve spent in her pool, I ALMOST feel obligated. Hmmmm, maybe I can bribe her into a couple of more nights spent floating in her pool in trade for my home addie...
OK Gail, I'll forgive you, can't believe Maggie hasn't extracted your address from you, whatever happened to the rack and thumbscrews.
What must you think of me Terry? Does this mean you consider me a persistant soul? But then, anyone who gardens on rock must be, yes?!
I forgive you too Gail, as long as you're not away for as long AGAIN. We miss you - welcome back. Oh, and you can come park in the pool anytime, as long as you also find time to post too, heehee.
I now have witnesses! Maggie says I can park in her pool so you'll have to remind her of this invite when she's wanting to kick me out after a month-long stay.
Maggie, I'm on my way to puter city to buy a laptop and an extension cord that will reach a plug from poolside. Will you come out and move the umbrella over me as the sun moves like Caro moves the truck for the piglets...hmmm, there's a comparison to ruin all the guys fantasy of ME in the pool!
Hey Gail, you leave my fantasies alone.
Mine involves swimming with Nessie in a land where the sun don't shine. 106 in the shade today.
Gail, this is your thread. Don't post anymore on Terry's very full and painfully slow to download thread!! Naughty girl! Did you see he started a new one?
And, talk about Maggie! I think I'll pass on that. I guess I'm in a good mood. I can't think of anything rotten to say about her....
Did your remodeling ever get completed? Did your garden ever get unwrapped from the black plastic?
