Terry! I have waited months for you share the Harrogate with us, and it was wonderful! click here for Terry's Nov tour to Harrogate '01
You even photo-ed all that I would have lingered over too :) In fact, over the years, I have even attempted to grow many of them here, in hopes of discovering which would bloom in our cool months and be able to make it thru the summer as perennial. Many of those you admire were sadly, not stout enough to take Texas heat, but then, that is how I have learned what will and what won't. (not a cheap or labor-free pursuit!)
Here are some of my casualties that you also have an affinity for - Corydalis chinensis, Trollius, Epimedium, Geum, Trilliums, Fritillaria imperialis.

On the other hand, you will be miffed to know that I used to collect the elegant Streptocarpus and had very good luck them in the 70's. The trick was to keep them in a low light window in vented terrariums. I don't even try the awsome Auricula here, since I know even the species primroses will not survive the summer - but I occasionally enjoy a few primroses as spring 'annuals'! And I collect every printed pic of auricula that I find.
We can enjoy Pelargoniums in Texas, but I have never seen any as beautiful as those exotic varieties!
Thanks for the trek and for the memories ;-)

Over here Maggie most people seem to do well with the Streps even away from the window and in centrally heated rooms, but they were a no go for me where ever I tried them. Pleased you enjoyed the late trip, and sorry I once again taunted you with the Auriculas. :)
