A view from underneath one of the mystery swallowtails, perhaps the Spicebush which routinely lays eggs on our rue foliage (Ruta graveolens), where its pupa develops into tidy pruners. Our captives are netted only long enough to record and identify, then released immediately. Otherwise, you go cross-eyed trying to focus on flapping flutters.
