Front Bed - Summer

FrontBedSum

Tucked behind foliage straps of the spring-blooming amaryllis, are the permanent plantings of native Echinaceas and hardy rose mallows (Hibiscus moscheutos). Some white `Mt. FujiŽ phlox and an early planting of the species magenta Phlox paniculata have since proliferated. These summer bloomers relish the water-retaining ability of our indigenous heavy black clay, amended with compost. The foreground juniper mound has since been replaced with purple native asters for a fall bloom.
